George M. Walters, Jr. began his service as a board member of Hospice Foundation of Naples, a separate corporation established in 1987 to raise funds for the agency. He joined the Avow Hospice Board in 1995 and has served continuously since then, including assuming the role of Chairman from 2003-2004. When he retired as a wealth strategist in 2006, Mr. Walters increased his commitment to the Avow Board: he was Vice Chair for the 2008-2009 term, served on the Executive, Nominating, Development and Finance committees, and was the Board liaison to the volunteer Naples Community Advisory Board. He served as Board Chair from 2009 until December 2011. He is a member of the Promise Campaign cabinet and chairman of the Vineyards Promise Community Campaign for Avow Hospice, which was initiated in 2009 and raised over $1 million as of November 2011.

Avow provides specialized end-of-life care to those living with a life-threatening illness and offers support to those who are caring for them. Our interdisciplinary care team provides medical care, pain management and complementary therapies. Avow Hospice cares for patients wherever they live. In addition, Avow Hospice has the only hospice house in Collier County (for in-patient acute care and respite). Avow also offers grief and bereavement support to the families and friends of our patients as well as anyone in the community who has experienced a loss. Avow Hospice is a non-profit organization that relies on community donations to help fund patient care and programs for our community.
