Memorial Services

Remembering (SM)  Services

Several times per year we hold RememberingSM memorial services to honor the memories of our patients and other members of the community. Held at Avow’s Ispiri community center, these nondenominational services feature instrumental and vocal music, readings, candle lighting ceremonies and other tributes to our patients and their families.

Invitations to Remembering services are sent to the family and friends of patients who died within approximately the nine months prior to the service, but anyone is welcome to participate. No fee to attend.

Check our Events calendar for upcoming RememberingSM memorial service dates.

Butterfly Release

Each year Avow holds a special community memorial and fundraising event that features a butterfly exhibit and memorial ceremony that includes music, inspirational readings and the reading of names of loved ones lost. The ceremony culminates with a symbolic release of the live butterflies from the exhibit tent. The event is open to the public – no donation required to visit the exhibit or watch the ceremony. If you would like to have your loved one’s name included in the ceremony, a small gift is requested. This event is typically held on a Sunday, two weeks prior to Easter.

Rainbow Day

For those who have lost a pet, Avow holds a semi-annual pet memorial ceremony, “Rainbow Day” which is open to the community and held on the Avow campus. No fee to attend.
