The Assistant Vice President of Giving is responsible for providing the overall vision and leadership in designing a major gift/planned giving fund-raising plan, laying the foundation for the next capital campaign by building the base for future growth, orchestrating the work of the professional staff and Board leadership to this end. The Assistant Vice President is an active fund raiser with personal responsibility for managing a portfolio of donor relationships aimed at securing six and seven-figure gifts. This position bears the ultimate responsibility of achieving annual fund-raising goals and will serve as an active member of senior management team to ensure integration of priorities as it relates to the philanthropy program.
The AVP of Giving will:
- develop annual and long-range strategic fundraising plans
- define fundraising priorities
- develop and oversee the implementation of the planned giving program
- understand and comply with Avow gift policies and procedures to ensure ethical compliance
- provide education to staff and administration regarding estate planning
- implement a comprehensive program to market planned gifts
- build, inspire, motivate and lead the major gifts staff
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- MA or equivalent; JD preferred
- 10+ years experience in planned giving and major gifts fundraising
- 5+ years supervisory experience
- Proven success securing seven figure major gifts
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving, research and analytical skills
